7 Ravensdowne has a beautiful walled garden blessed with the most fertile soil I have ever come across. Plum, apple and cherry trees have been added to the existing fan trained apple and pear trees. A soft fruit garden has also been started with blackcurrants, redcurrants, raspberries, loganberries settling in well. The green-house was bursting with tomatoes this year along with chillies and red-peppers.
Having a Rayburn has been a new experience which we both love. We make our own bread using wonderful locally produced organic flours. Other sweeter home baking happens too, and guests may just be able to try this in their pack lunches or for afternoon tea.
No breakfast is complete without home made marmalade. I make this using a recipe handed down from my father and best quality organic Seville oranges.
We are looking forward to making other preserves from our garden fruit.
